Our final show of the year "Acoustic 5" garnered a decent total of $538.53 for Boston domestic violence shelter Renewal House. Not bad for a Sunday show, Sunday shows historically not doing well for us. It was also great that, as this was a day and night all-ages show, people were able to bring their little kids to the show.
A very different but cool vibe.
Thank you to all the performers and to All Asia for having us - pics and links below.

So after a year where we were banging out $700 and $800 plus shows, the last couple have taken a downturn in attendance - HOWEVER - we put the word out for a matching donation and we got it, taking our total from the Stop The Bleeding Metalfest 2 of $229.19 and doubling it to $459.19 total. Awesome. In addition to that being awesome, every band that played ripped it up, as usual. If you're a fan of heavy music, don't deprive yourself - go check out the bands listed below.
Thanks to all of them for playing, and to the Raven for having us back.

I suppose we were due for a so-so total at one of these shows, but I'll tell you what - $445 dollars raised for Sancta Maria House is pretty good - it will go a long way there.
Once again I feel privileged to have the best bands in the Boston area playing for free to help the homeless - thanks to Rage Against The Machine tribute Ballz On Parade, Supernaut the Black Sabbath Experience, and Sweet Destruction for playing the show and the Honey Fitz for hosting us yet again.

I'll tell you what - we are laying the Smackdown on homelessness this year wih these shows. This past Saturday we put on our first show at The Cove Lounge in Revere. This show was for the Matta Home for homeless veterans in Brockton - and this show had many bumps along the way - booked and cancelled twice by two different venues, then we were 95% in the door at another venue but it was pulled back, and as little as a week before the show we had only a couple bands. It turned around though, as two more bands jumped in on short notice and helped us raise $744.36 to help homeless veterans.
Hell Yeah.
Thank You to Shred Of Salvation, New Hong Kong, Still Well Angel, and Supernaut the Black Sabbath experience for playing this show and delivering the goods - awesome performances by all.
Thank You to the Cove for hosting the show at a time when venues have been really jerking us around - some places get it, some don't - plain and simple.

Finally, finally, finally...one of my favorite forms of music - Metal - manages to raise a large amount of money at one of our shows. This shouldn't be so hard - especially in the Boston area where there is decent fan support and to some extent decent support from venues as well for heavy metal bands. Unfortunately though, until now, we've been unable to make much at the metal shows. This time around I think it came down to a great Metal town(Worcester), a great venue(The Raven), and a lot of great bands(8) promoting this show hard. We raised a total of $844, one of our highest in the 5 and a half years we've been doing shows. This one was our first show to benefit the Lighthouse Mission soup kitchen and shelter in Worcester. Thanks to all who came out, the bands for playing, the Raven, and to everybody helping me out with running sound. Great heavy show. Check out these 8 great bands. Pics and links below.

This past Saturday night we kicked in the 2011 Stop The Bleeding Concert Series with "A Tribute To The Homeless 7" at the Honey Fitz in Malden, at which we raised a great total of $739.50 for the Bread and Jams Day Center in Cambridge. Previously, we hadn't been able to raise much more than $300 at any show we had done for Bread and Jams, so we kinda broke the jinx with this show. 54 and a half paying customers, almost $100 in donations, and a Josh Beckett autographed pic that went for $100 at auction - any and every way we can get it, that's what we'll do. Thanks to original bands Sweet Destruction and Still Well Angel and tribute bands Black Rose, Beast Over Boston, and Crazy/DC for donating their performances, to all who came out to the show, and to the Fitz for having us again.

Greetings...
This past Saturday we put on our 4th Acoustic show to help us cover our costs for 2011. Can you guess what happened?
FANTASTIC show - great performances by everybody, but hardly anyone there. We did raise a total of $113, which will definitely help, considering we run on a budget of about $500 a year.
I'll tell you what - what it basically ended up being was a small spiritual gathering of people who care about a common cause - a great soulcircle who gets it. In a world, and more specifically, a local music scene, that for the most part doesn't get it, it was nice. So this $113 coupled with a very generous donation of $200 from
Active Technology Solutions out of Chicago puts us at $308 towards our expenses for 2011.
Thanks again to all who came to the show, Patrick's for hosting it, and Deep C, Emily Rising, Mark Lipman, Glenn Michael, and Maria Termini for their performances.

For those of you who didn't make it out to the show, or who have never been to one of our shows, you should check it out sometime, because you never know who's going to be there...

dsc03376.jpg

So we had a little break from shows over the past 4 months for various reasons beyond our control, but we came back strong at the Honey Fitz with "A Tribute To The Homeless 6", raising a whopping $845.50 - our second highest total in the five years we've been doing these shows. It's very satisfying in a year when we've had a lot of ups and downs, not just with money raised, but with shows being set up and then cancelled, which is always aggravating. The money has been donated to Sancta Maria House, a small but great women's shelter in downtown Boston. Many thanks to the Honey Fitz for hosting it, Thin Lizzy tribute Black Rose, Iron Maiden tribute Beast Over Boston, Metallica tribute Master Of Beers, and AC/DC tribute High Voltage for playing the show, and the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots for donating autographed items for our raffle.
I love it when a plan comes together.

This 4th of July marked our first show at Uncle Eddie's, A Tribute To The Homeless 5 right on the beach in Salisbury. We had a fantastic lineup for this one - 7 bands total - and for some reason, even though I had nothing in particular to make me think so, I was certain we were going to get a huge crowd for this one. And then we had 4 of the 7 bands cancel between Saturday and Sunday. Huh. Some of the reasons were legit, some - ehhh - whatever. I'm not going there. Woops - I just did. That said, we did okay - despite having to roll with 3 bands instead of 7, we raised a total of $401.91 for the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter.
On the downside, we had to put up with some attitude - you know we don't do these shows so some chump can try to push us around. That said, if I remove ego from the scenario, mine and his, it becomes irrelevant, because we're there to try to help the homeless, not to get all righteously indignant. And, I think in his own way, he was really just trying to help us.
All that said, we're done with being treated like second class citizens at these shows. 'Nuff said.
On the upside - we made a decent amount, and we met some great people, in the bands and in the audience who were really into the cause. I also want to thank the bands involved for playing longer than I had originally asked them to - their willingness helped us keep the show rolling.
So thanks to Guns n' Roses tribute Nightrain, Monkey Knife Fight, and Collision Theory for their awesome performances, thanks to BET television and Comedy Central comedian Joe Mobley for his impromptu standup comedy performance, and thanks to Mike from Uncle Eddie's for having us. Pics from the show and links to the bands' websites are below.

"The Rock Show 8" - what can I say about this show? I think I'm actually running out of things to say when we have a show like this - which in itself could be a sign of the apocalypse - me not having anything to say - Ha.
Anyways, great show - great lineup with Matt Hannon, Emily Rising, and Rockus. Not a lot of people there - I believe we sold 17 tickets. We had a raffle for a legit autographed picture of Jonathan Papelbon which was donated to us by the Boston Red Sox, which, for some reason that I can't fathom, made absolutely no money. Literally no money. Not one person was interested, even at $1 a raffle ticket. Huh? Red Sox Nation, where are you? Apparently not at this show. But enough whining. There's no whining in fundraising! None! Well, maybe a little, but I'll remind myself of what we're doing and why and I'll shut up and accept the $227.50 we raised for Renewal House, an excellent and much needed domestic violence shelter in Boston.
Thank You to the #9 Ale House for hosting this one and thanks to the bands for performing.

And so the pendulum swings...
Saturday night April 24th we returned to Patrick's in Malden with our latest tribute band show "A Tribute To The Homeless 4". This was actually a show that was cancelled last November and revived for the Spring. We did okay - a total of 19 paying customers but with donations we raised a total of $319.61 for the Bread and Jams Day Center in Cambridge. The low attendance is frustrating but whatever - we did allright. These shows really are a crapshoot - there doesn't seem to be anything in particular that makes a show successful or not, so we'll just say thank you very much and who's next?
Much thanks to these 4 great tribute bands for playing the show - simply the best. They rock. Go see/hear them if you can.

Hey everybody - Happy 2010!
This past Saturday we kicked in the Spring and our latest series of shows with
"A Tribute To The Homeless 3", a show designed to help us cover the cost of our recently acquired PA speakers. This was a great show featuring The Clozapines, Skull Hammer, and Ozzy Osbourne tribute Crazy Train. We raised a total of $538, which gets us most of the way to where we need to be to pay for our speakers. We have a couple other things in the works that will hopefully close the gap and possibly finish off this expense entirely. This is a huge step towards making
Stop The Bleeding more self-sufficient. Good stuff.
Thanks to everybody that came out to the show, The Clozapines, Skull Hammer, and Ozzy Osbourne tribute Crazy Train for playing the show, and the Honey Fitz for letting us have at it again.

Hey everyone - we recently put on our final show of 2009 "STB Blues 2". Something tried really hard to derail this show, from being pushed from November into December, losing it's venue, and then a shortened lineup and a ton of snow and slush the night of the show. Although the weather did pretty much kill attendance, we did raise $176 for Renewal House, a domestic violence shelter in Boston, mostly from donations from the regulars. That combined with Patrick's in Malden saving this show from cancellation by agreeing to host it for us, great performances by The Mighty Bad Habits and BluesFire, and some promo from some great folks who came out in the snow from Emerson College resulted in what can only be described as a successful show. We'll take $176 on a brutal Winter-like night in December for a good cause, absolutely. Thanks to all the patrons at Patrick's, the owners, the staff, the bands, the Emerson crew and everyone who came out to the show. It all counts.
Peace
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Last weekend we did something we rarely do - put on a show to cover our own expenses. Out of the 16 shows we've done in the last 4 years, we've only done this twice, but the need for a reliable sound system for our future shows has emerged as a priority, and so we put on The Rock Show 7. We did okay, with a total of $333 - a little short of what we needed for the mixer we've had in mind, but not by much, so we went ahead and purchased the mixer. So we have the first piece of our PA solution in place and we're working on the rest.
Behold:
The Behringer PMP 3000 1200 Watt powered mixer.

"A Tribute To The Homeless 2"-
at which we raised $287.50 for Renewal House.

Great venue, great bands, great show all the way around.
Check out these five bands - they turned in five awesome performances for the cause.

And..............back down we go. For several reasons that I won't go into here, we only managed to get 4 people to come to our hardcore show this past weekend. That plus a t-shirt purchase and a few donations put our total for this show at $52.25. Fortunately, this show was also to benefit the
Matta Home for homeless veterans, who we just had a good show for, so this will be a nice add-on donation and put us over $600 raised between the two shows.
Again, as always, badass rip it up performances from all involved - so thanks to the bands and the 4 people who came.
Check out these bands for all your Hardcore needs.

We're Baaaack! in the Saddle Again!
Our first tribute band benefit show brought in an audience of 54 people and a grand total of $576 for the Matta Home for homeless veterans. What was really cool about this show was that pretty much the whole crowd stayed for the whole show. That's the first time that's happened at one of our shows, so Thank You to everyone who came out to the show and all the bands for their ridiculous kickass sets. I think we may be on to something with this tribute band thing. Check out these bands - they are some of the best tributes you will find anywhere, hands down.

Hmmm...did I say we were on the upswing? I should really know better by now, I suppose. After two back-to-back shows with decent attendance, we unfortunately once again suffered from what I'll call GreatShowButNoOneThere Syndrome - a puzzling and recurring condition especially fond of small grass roots operations like ours. But hey - better than nothin'. It was our first Blues show, it was fantastic, and we raised $134 for the Bread and Jams Day Shelter in Cambridge. In case you missed it, and you probably did, check out the pics below, and check out the great bands that donated their performances by clicking on the band names below, which will take you to their websites.

FINALLY - it would appear that we're on the upswing with the Stop The Bleeding benefit shows, as evidenced by the results of our latest show, "The Rock Show V", from which we raised $603.50 for the Sancta Maria House. This is the second show in a row that we've seen a crowd of around 50 people - very encouraging. 5 great bands, a decent crowd, and a decent amount of money raised. Add that to the fact that venues are finally stepping up to help us and we are definitely on a roll. If you'd like to help keep it going, come on out to our first Blues show May 16th at the Baseball Tavern in Boston and in the meantime check out these five great bands who played "The Rock Show V".

*Update on the Reggae show proceeds*

We wanted to let you all know that we used the proceeds from this show to buy clothing for the residents of the Matta Home, a homeless veterans shelter in Brockton. The Matta Home takes in those veterans that other shelters can't or won't deal with - and we are proud to help in that effort.

I'm happy to say that our first Reggae show, held on November 8th, was a hit. Not only was this our first Reggae show, it was also the first show we've done for homeless veterans, something we've wanted to do for some time now. We raised $506.50, which is more money than we've made at any single show in almost two years. Pretty good, considering the economy, especially when almost $100 of what we made were donations. Kudos to the Baseball Tavern and it's patrons for their generosity. We will be using this money to literally take some homeless veterans shopping for things they need, like anyone should be able to. We are currently looking for the appropriate organization to work with to this end.
As always we will keep you posted on this. Thank you to everyone who came out to the show and I want to thank all the great bands that played this show for their awesome music and their time. Please check them out if you love Reggae by clicking on the following links.

Hello everyone -
Saturday night we embarked on the next chapter of the
Stop the Bleeding Concert series with "The Rock Show IV" - featuring Emily Rising, Crazy Jane, and Blue Moon Harem. This was our first show at this venue - the Overtime Sports Bar in Beverly - we were a little shorter than we expected on bands, and a little short staffed due to STB budget limitations, but all in all we did okay. We raised $236 - We've done better, we've done worse - but it was our goal at this show to make enough money to fund the next few shows with, and we did, so we'll take it, and we'll thank the bands for playing the show, because they all ROCKED - and everyone who came out to the show, as well as the regular patrons who weren't there for the show but who made a donation anyway - and the Overtime Sports Bar  for having us - much appreciated everybody - and rest assured, we will be stretching your donations as far as is humanly possible in order to put on the next few shows.
Stay tuned and keep your ear to the ground, because that sound you hear is progress.

Please check out these top-notch bands -  I'm not just saying that because they played the show - I'm saying it because they are 3 amazing bands and I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't get to hear them.
Check 'em out -

Stop the Bleeding's "The Rock Show 3" results are in - and I'm sorry to say that the steady decline in attendance has continued straight on through this show as well - again - at the risk of sounding like a broken record, GREAT performances by all, but again hardly anyone there to witness it. I feel like me and my crew are privy to the best kept secret in town, but hey - you know what? Thank you to all who did come and everyone who performed and my STB circle - their contributions keep me moving forward when the roadblocks are being thrown down in my face. We did manage to raise an even $100. As this is kind of a small amount of money, we decided to gear up for this Winter's STB outreach and make the best use of this money that we can by purchasing $100 worth of Winter clothing items at $1 a piece. That said, we will be taking a BRIEF hiatus from these shows, due to the aforementioned low attendance and several issues involving venues, but we will be back, as it is our committed goal to bring an end to homelessness, albeit one small step at a time. Thanks to all who care.

As always, below you will find links to the participating artists websites - my thanks for their time, effort, and music - check them out.

Stop The Bleeding's latest benefit show "Acoustic 3" has come and gone - I think I'll classify this one under "Keep On Keepin' On" - again - EXCELLENT show - but again, low attendance - but we raised $250 for the Bread and Jams Day Shelter in Cambridge - and as everyone keeps teling me, any amount is good - and they're right. However, I'd really like to be getting the attendance back up at these shows - I'm not sure why we're having this issue - I know we need more promotion - perhaps the novelty of it has worn off for some people, who knows - know this though - I will keep pounding away at Boston's homelessness problem until people do take notice on a larger scale - but I digress -  GREAT show - GREAT performers - and thanks to everyone who does care and everyone who does come to these shows - the STB crew, the performers, the audience - everyone - together we will push this to the next level.

Allright! - We're back in the swing of things with the first Stop The Bleeding show of 2007 this past Sunday at The Midway Cafe in JP. This show was hands down the most difficult to put together - we had 7 date changes, 3 venue changes, and countless roster changes - but we got it done. We raised a decent amount - not the smallest amount and not the largest we've raised, but still a decent total of $346 for the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, and, as usual, awesome performances from all involved. The quality of STB shows will always be top notch - so when you come to a show(hint hint) you not only will be helping a great cause but you will witness a great show as well.
As always, here come the props -
Thank you to all who came out to this show and

I'm happy to say that the 4th Stop The Bleeding benefit show - and the last one for 2006 - The Rock Show - was a success.
Thank You to all who came out to this show and to all the performers who played the show. We managed to raise $667 for The Renewal House, a domestic violence shelter in Boston - definitely a great cause. I'm thrilled that we could end this year with a decent take at a show - some shows went better than others this year in terms of attendance, but ALL performances and efforts put in and encouragement will forever be appreciated - good job everybody - you all ROCK.

The Second Stop The Bleeding Acoustic Benefit Show - "Acoustic 2" - is in the books as well. Again, AMAZING performances by all the artists. Unfortunately, again, there was also a rather low attendance, something which I'm currently addressing as I plan the next Stop The Bleeding show - but hey - we raised $201 - a modest amount, but still decent - today I wrote a check for the recipient of the proceeds from the first Stop The Bleeding show in May, the Sancta Maria House - at the time I had hoped to raise a little more than we had for them so I thought this would be a nice add-on donation to the first one. Not to mention the phenomenon that's currently happening of me calling shelters and telling them I'm putting on benefit shows and looking for places to donate to and them not calling me back. I still can't figure that one out. So Sancta Maria House it is. The average it costs them to put someone up for the night is about $10, so the $201 we raised will actually go pretty far there.
I am working hard on improving attendance for these shows though - always a difficult thing, but it will happen - and every little bit helps, so tell your friends to check it all out - Please :>)
Stay tuned...

The first Stop The Bleeding Metal/Hardcore benefit show is history -
What can I say about this show? The attendance wasn't what we had hoped - perhaps the location was an issue? The day and time maybe? Hard to say - but I will say this - much respect to the bands who  came and delivered regardless - they came there to play for a good cause, and that's exactly what they did.
Keep an eye out for the following bands, and my thanks to all of them for coming together for this cause.

The First ever Stop The Bleeding benefit show is in the books!
This past Sunday on May 7th we raised a total of $713 for the Sancta Maria House, an independently run temporary shelter for women in Boston. Sancta Maria House has been in operation for 33 years, and they do an amazing job helping people in need - I'm so glad we were able to help.
The show was awesome - it really was - all the performers were great, the audience loved all of them, and I think considering we were up against great weather that day, we had a decent turnout. So Thank You to all involved - the performers, my small but dedicated "staff", everyone at the Midway Cafe, and everyone who came to the show. And if you missed this show - YOU CAN STILL DONATE - feel free to donate $10 - the price of admission - I will be happy to accept it on behalf of the Sancta Maria House - it's never too late to donate!
I am also planning 3 more shows for this year, so check this page for updates.

My Mother - I've already said it a bunch of times , and I know you don't need me to say it, but thank you again for coming down from Maine to work the door and to help me set up for the shows - not to mention your endless support of me with Stop The Bleeding and EVERYTHING I do.

My woman Angel - What can I say? You are what Stop The Bleeding is all about - from kicking me back into gear when I'm stalling out to freezing with me on the streets of Boston to bringing the dirt - Thank You and I Love You.
